The Assistant Director of Conference Services and Marketing has two primary responsibilities: 1) to serve as the chief marketing contact for the Campus Life Housing Operations department, and 2) to work as a primary staff for the Conference Services operation. Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing program for housing operations department in ways that promote recognition, visibility, and affinity for specific services and/or facilities. Areas of responsibility include budgeting, development of marketing collateral and website design and management. Interacts on a professional level with summer conference on-site sponsors and guests, supervises 17-20 Conference Assistants, and handles a number of administrative tasks within Conference Services.
Works year-round with potential clients and assist with space reservations, contracts, and other logistics. Interacts with conference clients to ensure that their needs are being met by their assigned Conference Manager; this includes being present at both check-ins and check-outs to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Develops, creates, and distributes a weekly conference newsletter for Emory University employees and departments who assist during conferences. Hires all interns and student staff. Take on an integral role in the training of student staff including training of various functional areas, and planning staff development activities and team builders. Plans weekly staff meetings, advises Conference Assistants about individual conference responsibilities, and completes mid-summer staff evaluations for Conference Assistants. Works creatively to troubleshoot problems as they arise (scheduling conflicts, last minute requests, etc.).
Supervises all conference billing, including individually checking and signing off on all bills. Formulates specific sales, marketing, and branding plans to promote housing operations processes and services. Assists Housing Operations management teams with the creation and implementation of a comprehensive sales and marketing plan, with marketing strategies and projects specific to the individual areas. Collaborates with directors of the departments in Housing Operations on brand identity, develops brand identity materials, and communication that align with Institution and Campus Life protocols. Designs and develops marketing collateral. Develops and monitors adherence to university marketing policies and procedures. Manages development and placement of external advertising and design, oversee the design of and maintains inventory of promotional items. Manages all activities to produce promotional campaigns and materials, as well as procurement of related items. Develops assessment processes to determine marketing effectiveness. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree and two years of experience in marketing, communications, business, higher education or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A master's degree in higher education administration, facility administration, student personnel, business, or related field is preferred.
