Description

Responsibilities of working as a psychiatrist at the Grady Behavioral Health clinic include but are not limited to:

Time commitment – The expectation for this position includes weekly clinical hours (including direct patient care, coordination of care, and team meetings) at Project ARROW (Achieving Recovery through Resilience, Optimism, and Wellness) and the forthcoming Clinical High Risk for Psychosis Program. The position also includes weekly administrative hours.

Patient Evaluation and Management- This includes a working knowledge and ability to implement evidence-based practices of medication management, ordering tests or labs as needed, making referrals, and being responsive to patient requests outside of appointments with voicemail. You should also be able to work with the family in collaboration with the patient about plan for treatment. There is also a focus on engaging patients in treatment.

Supervision and teaching of residents- This includes staffing patients with the residents, offering teaching and guidance about management, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and documentation.

Participation and attendance in treatment team meetings and staff meetings - This includes the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with other members of the care team to develop treatment plans and discuss progress toward goals.

Documentation – This includes not only effectively utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR) for completing a note for a patient visit but using the EMR for ordering medication, communicating with other providers within the system, and cosigning notes for the trainees or midlevel providers. Additionally, the expectation is to document in a timely fashion and with appropriate knowledge of billing requirements for the type of visit, type of insurance, and level of service provided.
