JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the senior leadership of the Winship Cancer Institute, the Director, Business and Finance, leads the financial functions for Winship and manages resources and budgets to provide management counsel in all areas relative to financial issues (including planning, administering and monitoring the financial and operational policies and procedures of a school or major organizational unit.) Coordinates and participates in the strategic planning process. Develops short and long term financial goals and implements fiscal policies to support the financial viability of the organization. Assesses cash needs, manages cash flow and maximizes the appropriate use of funds. May negotiate and sign contracts; oversees the preparation of operations and grant budgets; monitors compliance. May coordinate auditing activities of independent public accountants. Develops, implements and maintains computer-based accounting systems. May oversee the administration and maintenance of organizational information systems. Establishes and maintains relationships with banks, auditors and other constituents. May represent the organization in external financial or business activities. Develops and prepares operational and statistical reports. Trains and supervises staff.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS : The Director, Business and Finance for Winship executes responsibilities with proven leadership skills and a deep understanding of large complex academic health sciences center organizations. Direct experience with the creation and maintenance of rigorous reporting standards to drive transparency and accountability across the organization. This position requires creative thinking to solve problems while serving as an example of character and commitment to advance the best interests of the Winship Cancer Institute, Emory University, and Emory Healthcare. Demonstrated ability to interact and operate as a valued team member in a cohesive and organized senior leadership team and a willingness to participate in team interactions, thinking, and decision-making in which individual attributes contribute to team effectiveness. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administration across Winship and the Cancer Service Line within Emory Healthcare. Excellent and creative interpersonal and communications skills with diverse audiences and demonstrable high moral character including trust, respect, and integrity. Demonstrate a collegial, consultative management style allied with the ability to build consensus. Demonstrates the business acumen to work in a highly matrixed environment and liaise with leaders and staff across multiple units.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance. Ten years of related financial experience. Positions in this classification may require a Certified Public Accountant.
