Job Description:

The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center in the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine, is currently seeking an outstanding investigator with expertise in early phase (I, II) clinical trial design and management, to join the faculty at the rank of Associate or full Professor and to direct the Aflac Developmental Therapeutics Program. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of involvement in Phase I /II clinical trials, having designed and managed trials and having prior leadership role(s) at the national level. The ideal candidate will have experience with investigator-initiated, cooperative group and/or industry-based trials. The Developmental Therapeutics Director will oversee clinical trials, support services, and research processes for Aflac investigators engaged in early phase clinical research. In addition, the Director will mentor junior faculty with an interest in early phase trials The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has close affiliations with research faculty investigators within the Winship Cancer Institute, Emory University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a willingness to collaborate across departmental or center boundaries is essential. Candidates should have an M.D. +/- Ph.D and a strong publication record in early phase clinical trials.

The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a national leader among childhood cancer, hematology, and blood and marrow transplant programs. Recognized as one of the top childhood cancer centers in the country by U.S. News and World Report, the Aflac Cancer Center treats more than 400 new cancer patients each year. The Center has 90 faculty and generates $18 million in grants annually.

This recruit would also be a full member of the Winship Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center and would be expected to actively engage in research activities and programs associated with the Cancer Center.
