Job Description:

The Department of Orthopaedics at Emory University School of Medicine houses a vibrant and highly prolific research team within the basic, translational and clinical musculoskeletal research community.

We are expanding our research program portfolio through targeted recruitments of two research faculty to complement our musculoskeletal research program at Emory School of Medicine. These faculty positions will be at the Assistant/Associate professor level.

Specific areas of focus for these positions include systems biology, developmental biology of the spine and stem cell biology for soft tissue repair and regeneration.

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position(s) must have completed their doctorate degree and a highly productive post-doctoral fellowship. These junior candidates must demonstrate national prominence and scientific leadership in one or more of the above specific areas. Priority will be given to candidates with secured extra-mural funding.

Candidates for the Associate Professor level position should lead a robust extra-murally funded program in one or more of the above focus areas. Successful candidates will be expected to sustain a highly prolific program in musculoskeletal research and interact with our collaborative team of researchers at Emory University.

Successful candidates will be provided generous start-up funds and laboratory space with a primary appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics and a secondary appointment in an appropriate basic science department within Emory School of Medicine. They will be encouraged to collaborate with our multidisciplinary community of musculoskeletal researchers and develop translational collaborations with clinician scientists in the Department of Orthopaedics.

Emory University provides state of the art core facilities as well as established collaborative programs with Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia and other partners and institutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and highly productive post-doctoral fellowship; senior level appointment would require robust externally funded program in one or more of the focus areas.

A PhD and two-year post-doctoral fellowship at an accredited institution will be required qualifications for this position.
