Job Description The primary focus of this position will be Medicine and Ancillary Services. The job role is accountable for the performance of charge capture responsibilities including reviewing physician documentation, CPT & ICD9-CM coding, TES edit maintenance and resolution, Denial resolution, and special projects in order to optimize the revenue collections for the Department. Revenue Cycle responsibilities encompass influence and direct daily functions that contribute to service capture, charge capture, management of patient financial information (registration/insurance, referrals, pre-certs, etc.), and collection of patient service revenue (TES and Denials management, payment variance, revenue performance tracking). This position reports to the Supervisor or Manager, Revenue Cycle Operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; 1-year experience in healthcare related accounts receivable role OR 6 months of Professional Coding experience; coding certificate through nationally recognized organization (AAPC, AHIMA, etc.) required: CPC-A, CSA, CPC, or PCS; IDX/GE Centricity experience preferred; working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology; ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation; must be able to write business correspondences effectively and professionally, and must be capable of presenting verbal information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers (physicians) and the general public. Successful completion of the AAPC ICD-10 Proficiency Assessment. The Emory ICD-10 Exam will need to be completed after hire and additional training. This component should be completed within the first ninety (90) days of employment. Non-compliance will be grounds for voluntary separation from Emory Clinic.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1-10 lbs 0-33% of the work day (occasionally), negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently), negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly). Lifting 10 lbs max, carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools, occasional standing & walking, frequent sitting, close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste. chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required, use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
