Emory Univeristy's Office of Undergraduate Admissions is seeking an Admission Advisor to join their team!
Recruits students by traveling to high schools and college recruitment fairs.
Reviews, analyzes, and rates applications of students applying for admission.
Conducts information sessions for visiting students and parents, and may conduct campus tours.
Assists in coordinating alumni volunteer activities.
May review and edit financial aid forms. Composes correspondence, and designs and generates reports.
Maintains communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and admission process. Performs related responsibilities as required.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES(SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS CIRCUSTANCES REQUIRE):
Travels approximately 4 to 5 weeks in the fall, and 2 weeks in the spring promoting Emory at college fairs, high school visits, and university receptions across the nation.
Serves on 25-member Admission Committee, reviews approximately 1,200 applicants providing comments, admission ratings, and leadership as Emory identifies the most talented students.
Conducts information sessions for visitors on a regular basis each week; serves as primary contact for territory management.
Strong ability to connect to the public, with clear and impactful communication style; potential growth in this area is understood.
Actively supports the review of 30,000 undergraduate applications, working with colleagues through several months of admission committee.
Coordinates special project area to be assigned by office leadership. Previous examples include: tour guides, student hosting, high school counselor tour, alumni volunteers, transfer admission, student volunteers.
Expected to be knowledgeable of other university divisions, specifically the 3 other undergraduate colleges: Nursing, Oxford, and Business.
Works collaboratively with colleagues at Emory’s Oxford campus, to deliver seamless two-campus/one-university message to our public.
Field inquiries and respond to correspondence from prospective students, applicants, counselors, parents, faculty, alumni, and other university constituencies.
Assist with fall/spring on-campus visitation programs, helping to coordinate events for hundreds of visitors.
During the busy office cycles of fall travel and file review (mid-December to mid-March) you may be called upon to work on some weekends and evenings. Time out of the office and away from home is common.
Active attendance at conferences and seminars – learning, engaging, presenting in the enrollment management field.
Bilingual a plus.
