Emory University’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery seeks a full-time fellowship trained Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to join a robust team. An appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is anticipated, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications. This position will practice adult cardiac surgery as a cardiothoracic surgeon primarily with the Grady Health System Cardiothoracic Service and as a Physician Member of The Emory Clinic, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at one or more Emory hospitals, including call coverage. Candidates will be considered based on their particular experience.

Summary of Duties:

Serve as a cardiothoracic surgeon for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery within the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient and outpatient practice, based primarily at Grady Memorial Hospital with coverage and practice responsibilities across Emory-owned and affiliated hospitals.

Participate in efforts to provide outstanding clinical care, maintain/improve quality and patient safety, access to and management of clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in the field of adult cardiac surgery.

Additional responsibilities include supervision and teaching cardiothoracic surgery medical students, residents, fellows, advanced practice providers and Medical/PA students. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical, outcomes and translational research based on patient volumes, acuity, and external research funding within the Department. Candidates must be Board-eligible/certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. The ideal candidate will have completed a 2-year ACS fellowship, have a strong background and interest in research and/or have a MPH, MSc or similar degree. Board Certified Surgeon with post-graduate training

A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
