Emory University Assistant Program Director Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Anesthesia Program in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

The Assistant CRNA Program Director as faculty in the Nurse Anesthesia Specialty Track assists the CRNA Program Director and contributes important clinical and educational leadership for the specialty track within the DNP program (12-month). They are responsible for collaborating with the Program Director to develop and evaluate clinical sites. The Assistant Program Director is expected to participate in clinical scholarship and leadership in the School of Nursing and within their specialty organizations. The Assistant CRNA Program Director must hold a terminal doctoral degree (DNP, PhD) from an accredited school, licensure as a registered professional nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in Georgia and active CRNA certification/recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction is also required. The Assistant CRNA Program Director is experientially qualified to assist the Program Director and assume leadership responsibilities for the program when the Program Director is absent.

The Assistant CRNA Program Director is expected to:

  • Assist the program director in the operationalization of the curriculum and program;

  • Assumes primary accountability for clinical site recruitment, development and evaluation;

  • Recruits, orients, develops and evaluates preceptors in clinical sites;

  • Places students in clinical sites to assure that the learning needs and required experiences with sites, populations, and procedures are met;

  • Ensures clinical placement agreements, student credentials, and appropriate faculty site visitors are in place;

  • Design and provide expert instruction for CRNA preparation through didactic, simulation, clinical and innovative approaches;

  • Serve as a role model for scholarship in clinical or educational research including evidence based guidelines, quality improvement, and other projects, and dissemination of results through manuscripts and presentations;

  • Participate in local, regional, and national specialty organizations to be current on environmental issues that may impact the nurse anesthesia program and practice;

  • Maintain specialty certification credentials;

  • Maintain active practice;

  • Serves as the program director in the absence of the Program Director and if required, assumes leadership responsibilities for the program;

Other duties as necessary for the success of the program.
