Emory University Assoc Director of RACE (Racial and Cultural Engagement) in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

Reporting to the Director for Racial and Cultural Engagement, the Associate Director for RACE supports the strategic visioning, leadership, and planning for advancing and achieving the office's mission.

Relying on collaborative relationships across campus and especially with the Center for Women and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Life, the Associate Director advocates for and supports students of color while championing racial justice efforts and education at Emory.

  • This position will support the overall mission of Emory University through deep engagement and dynamic partnerships with faculty, staff, undergraduate students, and graduate and professional students.

  • Develops and manages racial-justice oriented programs, trainings, workshops, and presentations. Advises student groups as well as individual students.

  • Coordinates the assessment and evaluation of programs and services. Supervises graduate assistants and student staff interns. Assists the Director in managing budgets as needed.

  • Supports the overall mission of Emory Campus Life via committee and other service, being an informed liaison for student involvement in other areas, and actively working to create a more just and equitable environment for all members of the campus community.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, cultural studies, or a related field

  • Three years of experience in programming, advisement, supervision of student staff, and event management, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience with developing and leading trainings and programs related to race, culture, and ethnicity; social justice; and/or intersectionality.

  • Knowledge of race-related trends, issues, and dynamics in the United States with particular emphasis on institutions of higher education.
