Emory Healthcare/Emory University Associate Dean for Public Health Practice in Atlanta, Georgia

The Office of the Dean in Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) seeks candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Public Health Practice (ADPHP). The Associate Dean is a key member of the Dean’s Management team. This faculty position will be full-time with approximately 50% percent dedicated to the Associate Dean role and the remainder to teaching and research. This individual would be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships that connect RSPH with public health practice communities. This includes maintaining and strengthening ties to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; State, County, and local Health Departments; the private sector; and community-based organizations that have a public health-related mission in service to generating local, domestic, and global partnerships that support teaching, research and student placements in the field. The ADPHP will also oversee core academic functions that may include the Applied Practice Experience, continuing professional education, school-wide accreditation and the Executive MPH program (the graduate distance education program). The ADPHP would also work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions and Student Services to support the Rollins Earn and Learn (REAL) Program.

The successful candidate will be a highly respected public health leader with a strong record of building capacity in public health; developing, implementing, evaluating public health programs and policies; and strengthening organizational ties and record of teaching and/or research. It is expected that this individual would have the necessary academic record to be appointed as an RSPH faculty member at the level of Associate Professor or higher with a doctorate degree (MD, PhD, DrPH) and also would be expected to make important contributions to the teaching or research mission of the school.

RSPH currently employs over 200 full-time faculty members and each year enrolls approximately 600 new full- and part-time graduate students in its MPH, MSPH and doctoral programs. The School is located on the Emory University campus, adjacent to the CDC, Emory’s Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and a number of laboratory and clinical facilities. Emory is a major research university and member of the AAU; its endowment is among the largest of US universities. The university enrolls over 14,000 students, approximately half in undergraduate programs and half in graduate and professional programs, taught by 3,000 faculty.
