Emory Law seeks a dynamic, engaged professional to join the team in the Law Admissions department. In this position, the Associate Director will participate in the Admissions Life Cycle by implementing a successful recruitment and communication plan to recruit, enroll, and retain a qualified and diverse class of students across all programs. The Associate Director will work strategically with the Senior Director of Admissions to coordinate enrollment, manage data, develop new recruitment initiatives, and develop, organize, and implement admission events and programs. The Associate Director will represent Emory Law at various recruitment events throughout the country, which will require extensive travel, particularly from September-November. In the summer, the Associate Director will teach (or co-teach) courses in our innovative LSAT preparation course which is part of the school’s pipeline program.
The Associate Director will participate in the recruitment and admission effort for all programs within the Emory Law admission team, including JD, LLM, MLS, and transfer and visiting students but focuses on the JD program. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, motivated team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to interact well with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Participate in the development and implementation of admission strategic goals and objectives to increase applications and programming,
Initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with external and internal parties, including students, pre-law advisors, administrators, alumni, faculty, staff, student organizations, and peers,
Build and maintain relationships with applicants throughout the admission cycle, including counseling and communicating extensively with prospective and admitted students,
Serve as liaison to various law school departments and student organizations,
Assist in the development and implementation of alumni volunteer activities to enhance student recruitment,
Review and evaluate applications for admission,
Manage and participate in admission interviews across all programs,
Develop, implement, and supervise admission events, both on-campus and virtually
Recruit at law school fairs, forums, and private visits nationwide, including giving presentations about Emory Law and the application process with a particular focus on diversity recruitment,
Manage applicant data and ensure data integrity (inclusive of CRM system data management and student records in OPUS),
In collaboration with Emory Law Institutional Research, produce reports from data in CRMS,
Produce admission decision and scholarship letters,
Produce statistical reports showing usage of scholarship funding and compliance with scholarship guidelines,
Track and analyze data and generate regular operational, statistical, and narrative reports,
Collaborate with Marketing/Communications staff to develop and implement marketing materials and targeted communication plans, including electronic communications and social media platforms,
Review admission-related websites and work with Marketing/Communications to ensure all information is accurate and up to date,
Hire, train, and supervise student office employees and ambassadors, and
Perform related responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four years of college admission or recruiting experience in a university or business environment or related experience.
A valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
Effective public speaking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
A JD or other graduate degree,
Previous law school admission experience,
Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds,
Familiarity with Unite and/or PeopleSoft systems,
Proven experience with data reporting and reconciliation,
Ability to travel 25-35%. Travel schedules typically include overnight stays (Schedules vary but are significant from September-November),
Ability to work evenings and weekends with advance notice,
Experience with leading review sessions or teaching non-credit courses, and
Experience in effectively planning and implementing an annual work plan.
To Apply:
Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled with a first review on November 6.
First round zoom interviews occur the week of November 18.
Final round in-person interviews occur he week of December 2.
The position will ideally start on January 6.
