The Constituent Giving and Donor Relations in the division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement develops and implements programming to engage, solicit, and steward prospective and current donors across Emory University and Emory Healthcare. On the Constituent Giving side, the team is responsible for broad, multi-channel campaigns for all of Emory’s constituents, to include direct mail, email, targeted ads, telephone, and texting, as well as targeted programming and crowdfunding to acquire and renew donors. Within Donor Relations, the team is responsible for stewardship strategies for all donors, Emory’s loyalty societies, and those who give to specific campaigns or projects. In addition, they design stewardship for major and principal-level donors across the university and partner on donor-specific recognition and stewardship plans. The Associate Director will lead a large team of student fundraisers, including recruiting onboarding, training, supervising, coaching, and evaluating callers. This position will report to the Director of Alumni and Constituent Giving.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Determines goals, strategies, and target audience for engagement for a central Annual Alumni and Constituent Giving office.

  • Manages a program that may include donor engagement, telefund, affinity or other giving programs.

  • Manages relationships with donors through a portfolio.

  • Develops narrative or design content for appeals and communications. Coordinates logistics for appeal distribution.

  • Generates prospect referrals for leadership development, major gift, or planned giving pipeline.

  • May develop/organize annual giving events.

  • May engage volunteers for solicitation program.

  • May supervise staff.

  • Performs other duties as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to:

  • Maintain a regular schedule of evening and weekend hours based on program business needs.

  • Hire, train, onboard, and supervise student workers in phone-based outreach to constituents, providing guidance and training as needed including developing scripts and copying for phone and text campaigns.

  • Manage daily and weekly assignments for the student employees.

  • Generate reports for multiple teams within the division.

  • Participate in the strategic planning process and track progress toward achieving project goals for the department.

  • Assess, create, and implement new or improved processes for department functions/initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and three years experience in higher education, advancement, fund raising, or non-profit, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.

  • Cover Letter required for consideration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will have prior experience working in a call center or telefund role.

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.

  • Ability to lead teams and work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, calling technology, and CRM systems.

  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.

  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

The role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
