JOB DESCRIPTION: This position administers all aspects of the Eagle Edge program to support student-athletes in reaching the highest levels of academic, athletic, and personal growth during their time at Emory University and beyond. The Eagle Edge Program serves as an umbrella for the integration of services and resources for academic, personal and career development. In addition, this position oversees all aspects of a comprehensive NCAA, University Athletic Association, and institutional rules compliance program. This includes monitoring, reporting and educational programs to ensure full compliance with all applicable rules and regulations for staff and student-athletes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in athletics administration, counseling, higher education administration or a related field, an three years of experience in intercollegiate support services and/or rules compliance, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree from an accredited university in athletics administration, counseling, higher education administration or a related field.

  • Experience in a University learning or academic advising center coaching and mentoring students. Five to seven years’ experience in intercollegiate support services and/or rules compliance. Experience in a NCAA Division III athletics program.

  • Experience in academic or student life administration in a college or university. Experience with a comprehensive NCAA rules compliance program.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS AND DEVELOPMENT:

  • Oversees all aspects of the Eagle Edge Program for student-athlete success which includes. Provides vision and strategic leadership for student-athlete academic and development programs/supports.

  • Supervises the student-athlete development staff. Monitors and reports on student-athlete academic support and progress. Coordinates with academic units on course registration, grade reporting, and retention.

  • Works closely with the College to collaboratively develop academic programs and support services to ensure student-athletes reach the highest possible level of academic success while balancing the demands and challenges of a highly competitive athletics program.

  • Provides supplemental academic advisement, resources, and support for all varsity student-athletes. Develops and provides programs and services which enhance the personal development and quality of life for all student-athletes.

  • Assists all varsity teams in coordinating, monitoring, and assessing community service projects. Serves on the athletics care team to support student-athlete well-being. Collaborates with campus partners on new student programs (which may include, but is not limited to, Pre-Orientation and the Emory Edge course). Serves as advisor to the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC).

RULES COMPLIANCE, MONITORING AND EDUCATION:

  • Serve as the Department of Athletics Compliance Officer and oversee all aspects of NCAA and conference compliance. Completes all NCAA and UAA compliance forms. Interprets rules and application of legislation.

  • Conducts compliance education for all staff and student-athletes. Oversees initial and ongoing compliance. Processes legislative relief waivers. Monitors playing and practice seasons; manages rosters.

  • Coordinates with campus partners on NIL compliance. Fosters a community with the highest standards of academic and athletic excellence and integrity. Assists department with all assessment activities.

ADMINISTRATIVE & OTHER DUTIES:

  • Serves on the Athletics and Recreation leadership team. Assists the athletics staff with hosting of all NCAA and UAA tournaments. Represents the Department of Athletics in university, professional, charity and alumni events as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
