Emory Law is currently seeking an Associate Director of Communications to assist with managing day-to-day internal and external communications for the school while creating and managing initiatives to improve our communication strategies. In your first year, you can expect to establish reporting processes, help publish two issues of our alumni magazine, devise and execute marketing plans, write news releases, and support institutional events.   • Manages internal and external communications efforts for the school of law and provides communications perspective on initiatives and strategic planning.

  • Produces executive communications and reports for school of law leadership.

  • Directs the implementation of marketing, promotional, and communications strategies and policies to build awareness of school of law initiatives and priorities, and to serve various communications needs.

  • Provides leadership on communications projects, ensuring that communications reflect school of law commitments, strategic priorities, and quality requirements.

  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Communications department to enhance the school of law's website, as well as social media presence and activity.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of communication strategies across platforms and audiences.

  • Facilitates relationships with vendors and Emory service providers.

  • Serves as spokesperson for the school of law, as appropriate.

  • Manages portions of the Communications budget.

  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement communications solutions while monitoring outcomes.

  • Lead and/or participate in working groups designed to improve internal processes.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art, or other related field.

  • Six years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing/research, project management, and/or information technology.

  • Knowledge of publishing and other related software.

  • Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing, public relations, or educational programs and communications materials.

  • Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.


  • Outstanding data management, administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies to enhance task performance.

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to initiate and follow through with minimal supervision as well as meet deadlines, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, be part of a collegial team and balance competing assignments.

  • Experience working in or demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive environment.

  • Experience in higher education communications.

  • Understanding of Chicago Manual of Style and Associated Press Style.

  • Familiarity with basic visual communications best practices.
