Description

The Health Services Research Center Associate Director of Programs directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs. Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies. Represents the program in various national and international fora. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, writes publishable articles and papers, collaborates with others, and designs programs. May supervise staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Development of research protocols for new datasets or projects which encompass wide and varying research questions, prepare submission to IRB and oversee maintenance in coordination with project leads (the HSR currently has 26 active IRBs)

  • Maintain HSR datasets and data use agreements including regulatory documents, data use agreements, and oversee access and collaborations throughout the HSR Center (e.g., Kaiser/Emory new data collaborations; Cerner COVID datasets; c19check data, Emory Healthcare CRADLE data access, etc)

  • Administrative oversight and supervision of the HSR Center internship program (via Rollins Earn and Learn, or REAL program); opening positions annually while soliciting faculty applications, identify REAL students candidates and match applicants with faculty mentors based on research interests. Obtain feedback from faculty. Advise on obstacles encountered or add resources as needed to ensure program success.

  • Continue to build relationships with the Rollins School of Public Health ADAPs across multiple programs (to identify candidates upon entry to the MPH program) and facilitate greater connections between SOM and RSPH

  • Partner with HSR Center leadership to facilitate recruitment and development of Center staff or faculty; join actively in interviewing and onboarding of new hires, lead search committees for recruitment of trainees, staff, and faculty for HSR Center

  • Build out dissemination plans for HSR Center via social media or webinars

  • Oversee the monthly HSR newsletter and develop content with the editorial team

  • Collaborate with junior faculty to assist with grant writing as requested providing advice on operational infrastructure

  • Participate in the development of new tools and research infrastructure to support health services research at Emory University, including identification of new funding opportunities

  • Represent HSR Center at Emory conventions (e.g. Faculty Affairs or Core Services) and career fairs as needed

  • Oversee updates to the HSR Center website at least quarterly to ensure relevant information

  • Oversee HSR Center newsletter communications

  • Coordinate lecture series and speaker line ups for HSR Center Seminar and Trainee Research in Progress speaker series (monthly)

  • Initiate and maintain a social media presence for HSR Center

  • Update HSR Center website on a weekly basis with relevant events, etc.

  • Represent HSR Center for all HSR Day planning events (e.g., serve on HSR Day planning committee, review abstracts, program planning assistance, etc)

  • Help to create agendas and notes for HSR Center advisory council meetings

  • Maintain facilities and resources document for HSR Center for help in grant submissions

  • Maintain list of HSR Center data sources and databases and access to those data via DUAs

  • Development of HSR Center metrics with assistance from program director to track outcomes (e.g., intake survey for request for services; monthly reporting to summarize usage)

  • Assistance with preparing the Health Services Research Center for submitting a T32 application

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in field related to specific program as indicated and five years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Master's degree preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
