The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center. Hematology and Medical Oncology is an autonomous academic department in the Emory University School of Medicine, with programs located at Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, the Atlanta Veterans’ Administration Medical Center, and Grady Memorial Hospital.

The Winship Cancer Institute (WINSHIP) and The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology of the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia are recruiting experienced academic physician scientists with expertise in hematologic malignancies, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR or PROFESSOR level. The WINSHIP has a growing clinical, translational, and basic research faculty and an extensive practice in hematology and oncology with many patients who become candidates for clinical trials. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competence in bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, experience leading a clinical program, and the ability to work closely with other hematologists, cancer biologists, specialists in biostatistics, clinical research, ethics, and regulatory affairs to conduct innovative translational research studies. The successful candidate is expected to successfully collaborate with existing faculty in the WINSHIP. A track record of established, peer–reviewed funding is strongly preferred, but not required. Substantial laboratory space and start–up funds are available for applicants with laboratory–based research programs. The WINSHIP seeks candidates who hold a M.D. or equivalent degree.

The successful candidate for this faculty position will have experience in developing and leading clinical programs and will have clinical responsibilities consisting of inpatient and outpatient patient consultation and management of patients in an outpatient setting. Other duties would include scholarship, teaching, and service responsibilities. Active clinical protocols are in place for transplants, non-myeloablative allogeneic transplants and adoptive cellular immunotherapy for malignant conditions. A major segment of the candidate’s effort would be committed to the development and maintenance of a successful, extramurally-funded multi-investigator research program. The role would also include publishing high-impact research in upper-tier, peer-reviewed publications, and would also include training and supervision of research and postdoctoral fellows in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology. Our faculty members also contribute to the teaching of ACGME and RRC approved programs.

Additional Details

-Candidates for these positions should be Board Certified or Board eligible in Hematology/Oncology and eligible for licensure in Georgia. Qualified applicants are required to have a MD or MD/PhD degree with national or international clinical and/or translational training in adult malignant and benign hematology. Excellent teaching and leadership skills, and experience in program growth and development are highly desired.-71496BR
