Description

This position is located in the central Office of Sponsored Programs. Provides assistance to faculty and staff in preparing standard grant applications and routine proposals for funding agencies and sponsors.

Interacts with funding agencies, faculty and staff to resolve guideline, grant management, and proposal issues and to determine award status. Prepares Notice of Award Acceptance documents; ensures accuracy of administrative and financial award information. Responds to agency, faculty or staff requests for additional information and/or clarification. Processes standard agreements and subcontracts with sponsors.

Reviews basic contract terms/conditions and seeks guidance from supervisors or General Counsel, as needed and applicable. Coordinates getting required approvals or certifications from the appropriate organizational committees such as the Institutional Review Board and the Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee; ensures funding agencies receive required approval letters.

Ensures all compliance and regulatory requirements have been met as required by law, institutional or agency policies. Maintains required records. Handles non-financial post-award activities such as obtaining final statements/reports from faculty and forwarding them to the appropriate agency, and assisting in transfer of awards for relocating researchers. Assists in organizing and conducting educational seminars/workshops for faculty and staff.

Performs related responsibilities as required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Prepare outgoing subawards utilizing appropriate template on Emory prime awards under federal/foundation/corporate grant awards. This process includes:

  • Reviewing prime award terms to determine appropriate flow-down provisions;

  • Inclusion of university-specific contracting requirements;

  • Review of subawardee activity to determine relevant regulatory requirements and including appropriate provisions as necessary;

  • Drafting subaward document based on appropriate template and provisions determination as noted above;

  • Determining appropriateness of each subaward/subrecipient under Emory subrecipient monitoring processes

  • Negotiating appropriate alternative language when changes requested by subawardee

  • Communication with department, faculty, and subawardee

  • Enter data into and monitor all subaward requests utilizing Subaward request/tracking page in Compass

  • Issuance of Purchase Order via the Emory Express system, as appropriate, for each subaward, including determining appropriate split of funds across account codes as necessary

  • Coordinates getting required approvals or certifications from the appropriate organizational committees such as the Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

  • Ensures all compliance and regulatory requirements have been met as required by law, institutional or agency policies.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, applied science or a related field and 2 years of related experience.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Individuals with law degrees and Liberal Arts Graduate or bachelor’s degrees are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Successful candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, detail orientation (for example, experience proofing and editing content), demonstrated problem solving abilities, and comfort working in complex environments.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
