Description
The Chief Financial Officer, PGP provides direction and support for the financial management of the Physician Group Practice (PGP). The ideal candidate understands both healthcare and physician practice industry trends and dynamics, and will work closely with the EHC Hospital Executive team and department managers to identify opportunities for expense reduction and revenue enhancements. The CFO, PGP will develop the PGP operating plans, operating budgets, and capital budgets; and partner with with EHC System Finance regarding financial forecasts and long-term financial planning. This position also collaborates with the Emory University School of Medicine (SOM) and with the Chief Business Officer of the SOM and its finance staff.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer of Emory Healthcare, with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer of Emory’s Physician Group Practice (PGP).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and monitors operating budgets and capital, including labor and productivity.
Identifies budget variances and trends, and works with PGP Section leadership to understand and develop gap-closure plans.
Maintains a working understanding of government payors and managed care rules and environmental changes and develops strategies to anticipate and support the changes.
Responsible for the direction and submission of financial data reports required by government and regulatory agencies, including state surveys and third-party payer cost reports.
Provides oversight for compliance with applicable government regulations working closely with the EHC Office of Compliance.
Works closely with the EHC VP of Revenue Cycle and VP of PGP Patient Financial Services to monitor the revenue cycle activities, identifying trends and opportunities.
Oversees the accounting and financial reporting functions, including the accumulation and analysis of financial and statistical data in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Oversees the month-end and year-end financial close process.
Reviews and approves specific contracts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Final sign-off on all requested physician incentive and variable compensation payments.
Performs all other management responsibilities as defined by the EHC CFO, PGP Group President and Clinical Co-Chair and PGP COO.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Graduate degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or a CPA preferred
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in the financial management of a complex physician group an Academic Medical Center / Integrated delivery system environment.
Most recent experience must be as a financial executive of a physician group with extensive experience with all finance and patient accounting functions.
Possess strong management skills and the ability to oversee and manage a complex budget process necessary to achieve high financial expectations.
