Job Description Manages the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program. Manages all aspects of the program's objective which is to facilitate appropriate physician documentation of care delivery to accurately reflect patient severity of illness and risk of mortality. Manages employee performance and resolves Human Resource-related issues. Develops program short and long term goals and objectives. Participates in the development of broad communication to enhance awareness of the CDI program. Coordinates ongoing education to the documentation guidelines for CDI staff and care givers (physician, nursing and allied health professionals). Plans, administers, and monitors the program's capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting, or 3 years experience in a specialty of CDI Program focus. Two years of management experience required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement programs at academic medical centers or complex non-academic centers; and a minimum of 3 years of progressive management experience in a multi-hospital setting. Demonstrated data analytics skills.

The System Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) for the Emory Hospitals provides leadership for CDI strategies, initiatives and department operations across all facilities. The Emory CDI Program encompasses services at the following campuses: Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory University Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. This responsibility includes CDI strategy development and implementation; planning, execution, and monitoring of progress towards department and organizational goals; adopting industry best practices; and, serving as the system subject matter expert in CDI. This leader will develop and maintain strong working relationships with Medical Staff Leadership and their members, system and site specific senior leaders, system and site specific Quality leaders, other leaders in the HIM Department particularly in Coding, Hospital Revenue Cycle, and Hospital Finance.
