We are pleased to announce the availability of a full time clinician educator position in pediatric sleep combined with either pediatric neurology or pediatric pulmonology at Emory University/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). The position is as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary, Allergy/Immunology, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sleep in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. The person filling this position will have effort in pediatric sleep and either pediatric neurology or pediatric pulmonary.

Through a collaborative agreement between Emory University and Children's, Emory Department of Pediatrics faculty provide the clinical services for a variety of subspecialties including those relevant to this position, that is, pediatric sleep, neurology, and pulmonary care. The Children’s Sleep Center operates 3 sleep labs that currently runs 14 sleep beds. The outpatient clinics in sleep are growing, including the support of a sleep psychologist and the development of subspecialized sleep clinics. The inpatient sleep service is consultative, primarily for the general pediatric service. The inpatient pulmonology service has a primary team caring for children with CF, chronic lung disease of prematurity, severe asthma, technology dependent children, and children with a variety of complex respiratory disorders. There also is the consult service which provides pulmonary consultation throughout the hospital on a wide array of medically complex children as well as performing bronchoscopies. In addition, there are a variety of general pulmonary and pulmonary subspecialty clinics. Similar to pulmonology, neurology runs a very busy inpatient and outpatient clinical program. Inpatient neurology service is consultative and includes two Children’s hospital – Egleston and Scottish Rite. The neurology clinics serve a large population of children with a variety of neurologic disorders.
This position is for an outstanding clinician educator who is BC/BE in sleep medicine and pediatric neurology or in sleep medicine and pediatric pulmonology. The amount of time divided between sleep and either neurology or pulmonary will be dependent on the needs of the Division and the career goals of the candidate. The sleep portion of the position will evaluate patients in the sleep clinic, interpret sleep studies and be included in the sleep call pool. The pulmonology portion will be a combination of inpatient and outpatient services. Similarly, the neurology portion will be a combination of inpatient and outpatient services. Supervision of medical students, residents and fellows on rotation will be an important part of this position. Although clinical and educational activities are the primary focus, research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged and opportunities exist for collaborative research with established researchers.
