Description

The Communications Coordinator is an integral member of the Emory Campus Life Communications team and coordinates research and creative projects and initiatives, under the supervision of the Director of Communications.

The Communications Coordinator serves as a primary player in the creation and promotion of Emory Campus Life student stories; coordinates content and handles posts for the departmental social media channels and website; conducts research for communications projects and reports.

  • Works with the Director of Communications and Senior Director of Communications on special projects, as assigned.

  • Consults with students across the University to develop and implement an annual communication plans.

  • Help monitor, assess and track social media and website engagement.

  • Writes and edits various communications and promotional materials, including correspondence, news stories, brochures, and web/social media content.

  • Coordinates a variety of communication tactics and tasks, across a variety of vehicles.

  • Oversee distribution of communication across a variety of online and offline mechanisms.

  • Help produce departmental engagement report annually or twice annually.

  • Trains staff in the use of communications technology, as assigned.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Additional job duties:

  • Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.

  • Develops, writes and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.

  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.

  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.

  • May train staff in the use of communications technology.

  • May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors degree

  • One year of experience in an office setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong research, writing and editing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge and experience with social media/web/interactive communications in a work environment.
