JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website. Develops, writes and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.

  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.

  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation. May train staff in the use of communications technology. May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.

  • Develops, writes, and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.

  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.

  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.

  • May train staff in the use of communications technology.

  • May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required

  • African American Studies Department Day to Day Responsibilities (20-30%)

  • Administrative Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Regularly scheduled meetings with the ADA and Chair.

  • Maintaining the Chair’s calendar and meeting/interviewing requests.

  • Updating and maintaining AAS/MMUF website and all listservs.

  • Responding to inquiries regarding events and the undergraduate and graduate program.

  • Monitoring the AAS electronic mailbox-including USPS mail.

  • Assisting with the logistics of AAS events (scheduling event space, catering, videographer).

  • Updating department forms.

  • Maintaining filing system, accounts payable, and ordering supplies.

  • Hiring TA and work study students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graphic design experience.

  • Experience using Adobe creative cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator).

  • Experience using Cascade.

  • Experience using Microsoft office suite.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
