JOB DESCRIPTION:

The department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a full-time CT Medical Physicist in the Physics and Computer Lab.

• Effectively interfaces between physicians and technologists in the collective aim of achieving compliance, and optimizing care, education, and research. Works collaboratively with Emory Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Grady, Emory Quality committees, and Emory Radiation Safety.

• Ensures TJC compliance for all applicable CT and fluoroscopy scanners. Assesses current needs and prioritizes corrective actions needed to maintain compliance. Assists with policy development and maintenance. Assists with radiation dose monitoring.

• Facilitates ACR accreditation for all applicable CT scanners.

• Manages and monitors technologists QC/QA program and ensures compliance with TJC and ACR.

• Partners with physicians on CT image quality and dose optimization andoversees protocol changes.Assists with CT protocol standardization efforts.

• Supports CT operations and radiology physicians to refine CT technologist performance.

• Consult with operations, imaging informatics and RIS support staff on RIS functionality. Optimizes existing CT Equipment and provides input on CT upgrades or expansions.

• Provides dosimetry dose reconstruction for Radiation Safety, Risk Management, or patients requests.Assists Radiation Safety with fluoroscopy dose monitoring and skin dose calculations.

• Mentors Emory medical physics imaging residents. Develops and maintains technologist training courses. Supports Emory research staff with CT research projects. Develops a strong relationship with physicians, technologists, and researchers. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualified candidate should hold a master's level degree in medical physics or a related degree such as health physics or radiological sciences. Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology. Ability to develop strong relationship with physicians, technologists, and researchers. Strong expertise in diagnostic medical physics.

Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
