The Division of Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology, Cystic Fibrosis and Sleep in the Department of Pediatrics within the Emory University School of Medicine, and the Center for Cystic Fibrosis and Airways Disease Research (CF-AIR), invite applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level within the broad field of biochemistry. Applicants in the fields of molecular biology and biochemistry of membrane proteins, and who study targets of relevance to cystic fibrosis, are particularly encouraged to apply.
The faculty candidate will be both a member of the faculty in Pediatrics and a member of CF-AIR, and will benefit from resources associated with both. The Department and Center are part of the Pediatric Research Alliance supported by both Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University. We offer a highly interactive collegial research environment with state-of-the-art research facilities, as well as proximity to and collaborations with The Winship Cancer Institute, the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, The Emory Vaccine Center, Emory Transplant Center, the joint Biomedical Engineering Department at Emory and GA Tech, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, in conjunction with a record of strong postdoctoral training. Ideal candidates will be collaborative scientists that bring new perspectives to the Department and Center, with a translational mindset. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program, and to participate in our strong graduate and medical student training programs through mentorship and teaching. The primary criteria for selection will be excellence and creativity in research and scholarship.
