The Department of Radiation Oncology of the Emory University School of Medicine is recruiting for two physicians at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Professor level for positions at our large new Winship Tower recently opened in Midtown Atlanta to deliver multidisciplinary oncology care. Candidates for the position should have completed an accredited residency and be Board Certified or in the process of becoming Board Certified in Radiation Oncology through the American Board of Radiology.Candidates should ideally have a strong interest in research, including clinical trials, health services/outcomes/policy research, translational biology, or physics research. A commitment to residency education, the multi-disciplinary care of cancer patients, and quality and equity of care delivery are essential. These positions are tenure eligible. One position will focus primarily on a service delivering care for breast cancer and the other on a service delivering care for genitourinary/prostate cancer, including brachytherapy.

The Department of Radiation Oncology has a tripartite mission of providing outstanding patient and family-centered medical care, educating the next generation of cancer caregivers and researchers, and executing paradigm-defining cancer research. The department is growing in all three areas with over 60 facultydistributed among Divisions of Clinical Affairs, Cancer Biology and Medical Physics. Faculty members are nationally recognized for subspecialty care in areas including pediatric oncology, brain tumors, head and neck cancer, lymphoma, breast, genitourinary, and lung cancer. The department operates seven sites of care in the Atlanta area, including the Emory Proton Therapy center and Winship at Emory Midtown. These positions are optimal opportunities to lead in the development of multidisciplinary care with tremendous resources and opportunities to elevate the quality of care in a major metropolitan area.

Winship Cancer Institute is the only National Cancer Institute–Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia. The Winship Cancer Institute coordinates subspecialties of cancer diagnostic imaging, care, and research throughout the university. The School of Medicine, in addition to cancer research and care, is nationally recognized in areas of infectious disease, neurosciences, heart disease, transplantation, orthopedics, pediatrics, renal disease, ophthalmology, and geriatrics.Winship has over 500 faculty, who received $85 million in total research funding reported in CY 2021. Atlanta is home to two other large research universities, many other schools and colleges, vigorous technology and biomedical sectors, together with extensive parks and green space.
