The Emory Autism Center (EAC) of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Child, Brain Health Center, is accepting applications for a leadership position with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the lifespan at the Associate or Professor academic rank. This is a faculty position in the Emory School of Medicine with an emphasis on clinical service, education, and scholarship as a faculty member and for leading and facilitating the vision, mission, and overall leadership of the programs at the EAC. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and professional accomplishments of selected applicant.

Job Description:

  • The Director of EAC will be responsible for overall vision, mission, and implementation of an academic specialized service and research organization focused on making meaningful improvements in quality of life with people on the autism spectrum across the lifespan. As such, the Director will steer the direction of the EAC and supervise faculty and staff across multiple model intervention programs, clinical and educational services, education and training, and research and evaluation. vision and plan for the Department’s efforts in autism.

  • The Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of a fund raising plan for the EAC in conjunction with Departmental leadership and community partners.

  • The Director will serve as the primary liaison between the Department, other entities within Emory, CHOA, and state agencies for our endeavors in autism.

  • The Director will lead the education, training, and research programs at the EAC, and as a faculty member will develop and maintain service, teaching, and scholarship activities based on professional expertise.

  • The Director will maintain substantial research involvement through mentoring faculty, staff, and trainees; application for grants and contracts; and peer-reviewed publications.

  • The Director will have responsibility for creating fiscally-sustainable programs and will develop with Departmental senior leadership the annual operating budget for the EAC.

  • As a member of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the Director will participate in departmental-wide functions such as Grand Rounds and other important meetings and contribute to departmental and university committees and other local services, as well as participating in programs and committees of interest nationally and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must hold a PhD or MD with a distinguished record of service, teaching, and scholarship.

  • A current license (or be eligible) to practice in an area of specialization relevant to autism clinical services (e.g., Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst) in Georgia.

  • The candidate must have an outstanding reputation in the field with potential to lead the development of complex clinical programs in coordination with the EAC leadership team.

  • The candidate must have the ability to successfully work in an academic service environment and to communicate effectively. Both clinical service and evaluation research and scholarly activities of seeking grants, presenting to professional audiences, and publishing findings are expected to meet the requirements of Emory Faculty in the area of service, teaching, and scholarship.

  • The candidate must have academic qualifications commensurate with an appointment at or above the level of Associate Professor.
