JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • As Director of Integrated Financial Planning and Analysis, directs the five-year Integrated Financial Planning (IFP) process as part of the university annual budget and planning process by ensuring deadlines are defined and communicated with the campus community.

  • Interfaces with all levels of university officials, school and department administrators, affiliate institutions, and staff. Designs and implements the IFP system, which encompasses technology, business processes, policies and communications to support the strategic direction of the integrated financial plan development.

  • Supports the development of an enterprise financial plan which incorporates Emory Healthcare¿s annual operating plan to ensure the consolidated plan supports debt policy, cash flow from operations, and net asset growth required for fiscal sustainability as an enterprise.

  • Partners with the Office of the Provost to incorporate academic budgets, strategy, and planning into the IFP. Partners with the EVPBA business analytics to challenge planning assumptions and build forecasts and projections with a data-informed approach.

  • Aligns the IFP with audited financial statements. Incorporates enterprise capital funding and financing plans, which are aligned with a capital needs inventory, capital plan, and prioritization incorporated in the Integrated Financial Plan.

  • Develops new and improved analysis and reporting as the need and focus for ad hoc reporting arises.

  • Oversees the approved budget submissions into Compass from the IFP planning tool to ensure reporting reliability. Ensures the IFP tool is integrated and/or aligned with the EBI and Compass structures.

  • Ensures all budget processes are documented and executed appropriately.

  • Develops, leads, coordinates and performs budget analysis, variance reporting and metric monitoring. Prepares board presentations and IFP narratives for senior leadership and board approval.

  • Supports administration's compliance with trustee approved budget policies and funding. Coordinates off-cycle funding tracking and cumulative impacts on subsequent planning cycles.

  • Creates a projected balance sheet and income statement based on planning assumptions.

  • Applies ERM financial risks in the final planning assumptions and metric development.

  • Collaborates with management to develop goals related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses. Develops and prepares various operational and financial reports for internal and external use.

  • Leads and provides guidance in standardizing, defining, preparing, developing, loading and monitoring department and organizational budgets for regular, quarterly and year-end close review. Works with management to promote awareness of policies and best practices. Leads special projects to review and work with units across campus to improve reporting and data quality.

  • Develops new and improved analysis and reporting as the need and focus for ad hoc reporting arises.

  • Functions as a primary contributor in the development and establishment of the new budget process and planning systems. Represents the IFP Office in various project teams, meetings, and processes, as appropriate.

  • Manages projects that may involve cross-functional teams.

  • Directs special projects using problem solving skills and systems expertise to facilitate the budget planning process and to review and work with units across campus to improve reporting and data quality.

  • Conducts periodic interviews with cost center managers to review methodology for allocating costs.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field.

  • Seven years of budget analysis, financial planning, accounting or related experience, preferably in higher education.Proficiency with applicable software packages.
