JOB DESCRIPTION: Reviews and develops policy relating to program initiatives and institutes strategic plans. Develops and implements strategies for media relations, publications, and community relations programs in support of image enhancement. Acts as spokesperson for the organization. Develops and oversees communication efforts for specific programs and overall institution building efforts. Manages a budget and a staff. May be responsible for managing various aspects of social media activities. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field. Seven years of related experience which includes three years in a communications or public relations position.

Additional Job Details:

  • Works as part of the Emory Alumni Association Communications and Marketing team, reporting to the Executive Director, Emory Alumni Association

  • Advises and partners with colleagues within and outside the EAA to create individual, multi-channel, strategic marketing and communications strategies for programs and services targeting diverse audiences and constituencies

  • Shapes, develops and helps execute strategic marketing campaigns, brand identity and message development efforts, and targeted communication plans to increase the engagement of Emory’s global alumni community

  • Manages professional and support staff

  • Provides team support and direction

  • Develops strategy and metrics for team

  • Monitors project budgets and ensures on-time delivery of client jobs

  • High level administrative duties (budget, annual planning, goal setting, staff performance)

  • Strategic and long range planning with division and other campus partners

  • Manages production and execution of Alumni Association annual reports, social media/digital outreach, impact storytelling, and awareness efforts to increase alumni pride, involvement and investment in the university

  • Manages vendor relationships

  • General editing/writing/design

  • Proven ability to function effectively in a team environment, as well as work independently

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and outstanding ability to establish and meet deadlines

  • Strategically inclined to develop effective programs

  • Experience with online marketing, mass email marketing, social media, and production schedule development

  • Experience with video production and editing

  • Experience in data analysis and production schedule management

  • Demonstrated experience with social technology (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, blogs, wikis, RSS, social bookmarking, discussion forums and community software)

  • Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms including but not limited to Omniture, Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics, HootSuite, TweetDeck, and Social Mention.
