  • Markets programs and/or services to targeted audiences for a department or school.

  • Provides leadership toward branding, brand management, and marketing strategy development for various organizational initiatives.

  • Conducts marketing research and identifies new opportunities for growth and development.

  • Identifies, develops, and retains relationships or partnerships with key entities to further the objectives of the division, school, or business unit.

  • Oversees annual budgets, and tracks financial progress and identifies new methods of reaching revenue/budgetary goals.

  • Compiles and analyzes various forms of data to develop reports, track progress, and identify new growth opportunities.

  • Develops programs, special events, program materials, proposals, press releases, marketing kits, and other communication materials that support organizational goals and broaden the organization's exposure, or promote the organization's image/brand.

  • Provides leadership in the design/development web based communications; may manage various aspects of social media activities.

  • May supervise or provide direction to staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or other related field.

  • Five years of relevant work experience which includes program development, the development of effective customer relationships, or public relations/institutional advancement experience.

  • Project management or event planning experience.

Additional Details

The RSPH seeks a communications director to implement a strategic marketing and communications plan for internal and external constituents designed to promote enrollment and brand awareness.

The Director is responsible for the following functional areas: strategic planning, advertising, on-line and social media presence, website development and updates.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop a comprehensive and diversified digital strategy aimed at supporting enrollment growth across academic departments within the RSPH

  • Collect and analyze data to identify effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns


  • Identify paid social and traditional media outlets and develop a marketing campaign to support program growth

  • Oversee creative design and content for paid social media and advertising campaigns

  • Negotiate purchases and contracts with printers, vendors and advertising outlets

  • Oversee creative design and content


  • Assess RSPH’s web presence and articulate a plan for improvement

  • Develop and maintain a calendar for regular website updates in coordination with academic departments and office of admission

  • Use data to inform content and design improvements

  • Track web analytics

  • Launch marketing automation program to drive enrollment

Social Media

  • Oversee and coordinate the School’s presence on all social media outlets

  • Lead and direct all digital media management across digital platforms to ensure message consistency and style compliance

  • Develop a proactive communications plan aimed at optimizing key messages

  • Manage and direct social media publishing to ensure timely updates

  • Develop and manage video and photo archive for the School for use in promotional materials and advertising

Position Qualifications

Candidates must have direct industry experience in marketing and communication. Expertise in Google Ad words, the use of CMS for updating websites, and marketing analytics is required. Experience in creative direction for photo shoots and video is also required. Proven track record of success in launching digital marketing campaigns with ROI.Experience with Slate or similar CRM is highly desired.
