JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting directly to the Director Patient Care Perioperative and Procedural area, assumes organizational responsibility for clinical and resource management of the Operating Room, Sterile Processing and Operating Room Education Departments 24 hours, seven days per week.

  • Maintains responsibility for coordinating services of departments including staffing, operational policies and procedures, systems and programs, standards, and compliance with all regulatory, quality, and legal requirements, holding all members of the perioperative and surgical team accountable for compliance with established standards.

  • The Director maintains direct accountability for the financial stewardship, operational and mission Nursing and/or performances for the specific services and departments assigned, meeting budgeted expectations in regard to labor productivity, charge capture and expense management.

  • Establishes and achieves appropriate safe patient care standards, verifying that perioperative personnel provide safe and effective patient ¿centered care and coordinates the services with the appropriate clinical management team(s).

  • Assumes responsibility for surgical employees, physicians, and patient satisfaction and collaborates to achieve safe quality of care.

  • Demonstrates effective professional verbal and written communication skills, consultation, and negotiation.

  • Supports hospital leadership and carries out the mission, vision, values, and quality commitment of the organization.

  • Conveys the mission and vision of Perioperative Services with the assistance of the other members of the Perioperative management team.

  • Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within perioperative services and the healthcare institution utilizing a multidisciplinary collaborative approach to opportunities.

  • The Director will assess and respond appropriately to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encompassing the culture, relationships, and philosophy of the institution.

  • By participating in strategic planning, operations, and capital budgeting processes, works in full collaboration and cooperation with all areas and stakeholders to coordinate services that will support the strategic goals and mission of the hospital.

  • Supervises and direct the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment while evaluating practices and creating strategies for further improvement processes.

  • The Director will integrate the departments¿ services with the hospital's primary functions and mission, and coordinates and integrates services within the department(s) and with other departments.

  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care and services and oversees all staffing needs and personnel management including recruitment, interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.

  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners in support roles.

  • Oversees and provides for the orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department. Acts as a mentor and coach in the professional development of staff utilizing effective conflict resolution techniques and planning accordingly for effective successful succession planning. Directs and collaborates to ensure all employees maintain patient and staff confidentiality and privacy. Creates engaging workplaces and program strategies that meet the future healthcare needs of patients utilizing state of the art technology, empowering, and encouraging others to contribute creatively and innovatively while promoting a safe environment for patients, staff, and stakeholders. Maintains clinical competency and current knowledge of the relevant patient care standards through professional growth and participating in national professional organizations relevant to practice.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor Degree and/or Master Degree in Nursing required. Master Degree in Nursing and/or related healthcare field required. Current encumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in professional organization required and/or obtained within six months of hiring date. Good computer, clinical and communication skills. Strong leadership skills
