Under the leadership of Dr. Branden Grimmett, the inaugural vice provost for career and professional development and associate dean of the College, The Pathways Center helps Emory students and alumni reach their full potential through integrated career services, undergraduate research, national scholarships and fellowships, pre-health advising, and experiential learning. Our division includes a total of 35 team members, 7 of which make up the Pathways leadership team. The Pathways Center serves as a national model for higher education in seamlessly preparing students and connecting them to resources.

We invite applications and nominations for the position of Director of Recruiting and Employer Development who will report to the Executive Director of the Emory Career Center. The core accomplishment in this role will be to strategically build and maintain relationships with regional, national, and global employers and alumni consistent with Emory’s mission to create, preserve, teach, and apply knowledge in the service of humanity. Critical for success in this role will be the ability to anticipate and adapt to impactful post-pandemic approaches to student recruitment and employer/alumni engagement. The individual hired into this role will be charged with creating a new vision leading to a best-in-class employer relations program.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Strengthen existing relationships with employers and alumni, develops new employer relationships, and increases the number of internship and full-time employment opportunities available to Emory students.

  • Plan and coordinate all employer outreach, development, and relationship activities for the Career Center.

  • Oversee all recruiting logistics including job/internship postings, employer information sessions, on-campus interviewing, virtual engagements, and site visits.

  • Develop strong employer relations base. Develop, plan, market and implement innovative employer relations, development, and outreach programs.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication/persuasive skills (ability to communicate with students with wide variety of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds); organizational and planning skills, including ability to: prioritize work; reassess and prioritize goals; understanding and capacity to follow directions and to give clear directions to others.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Strong proficiency in utilizing Handshake.

35% - Coordinate all employer directed communications and engagement.

  • Respond to all incoming employer inquiries regarding job listings and candidate referrals.

  • Supervise recruiting managers assigned to employer development projects. Review and coordinate distribution methods for job and internship opportunities.

  • Coordinate data entry of all internship and professional positions.

  • Respond to inquiries and other correspondence from students and alumni, employers, and others.

  • Cultivate potential and maintain existing relationships with employers through direct correspondence, membership in professional organizations, attendance at conferences, etc.

  • Create and edit various employer development publications, including the newsletter, articles, brochures, reports, etc.

  • Ensure employer engagement rises to the level of creating access and opportunity for all students.

15% - Facilitate connections between Prospective employers and students.

  • Coordinate in-person and virtual networking and hiring events.

  • Manage OCR parameters for both virtual and in-person interviews.

  • Establish new and novel ways for prospective employers and students to engage, including creating dedicated avenues for unique student populations.

  • Provide exceptional experience for prospective employers and alumni when visiting campus.

15% - Respond effectively to employer concerns.

  • Meet with all employers requesting appointments with Career Center staff.

  • Coordinate corporate campus visits.

  • Coordinate and manage employer hospitality.

  • Host on-campus recruiting initiatives.

  • Represent Career Center at employer-requested visits.

  • Coordinate employer networking/educational events on campus.

  • Coordinate employer representation at career-related programs, workshops, job fairs, graduate school fairs/events, etc.

15% - Develop employer outreach plan with career coaches.

  • Implement and manage College strategic plans focused on internship development and professional employment opportunity development.

  • Conduct monthly progress meetings with college coaches.

  • Provide weekly updates to college coaches on appropriate opportunities received or developed.

  • Support all College needs relating to internship/professional employment development.

  • Participate in general Career Center and Pathways Center outreach.

  • Act as liaison between Career Center and university offices, including academic departments, Alumni Relations, and Corporate Relations.

5% - Consult and partner with the marketing and communication coordinator to develop and implement printed and digital collateral materials, identifying creative outlets and strategies for increasing the visibility of students to employers and vice versa.

  • Initiate a comprehensive technology-based strategy for marketing recruiting services to employers.

  • Develop and/or oversee all digital marketing to enhance employer and student awareness and interest in employer-initiated programming.

  • Benchmark with peers and employers to ensure employer relations best practices and resources.

5% - Maintain ongoing statistics and generate regular assessment reports analyzing the metrics of the recruiting operation, including student outcomes and first destination data.

  • Develop surveys and other measurement tools to monitor customer satisfaction with all aspects of employer relations.

  • Develop and enforce expectations for use of the enterprise CSM system to track and manage employer relations engagement.

5% - Manage the Employer Relations Team in developing and implementing a comprehensive long-term strategic plan for the Employer Relations program.

  • Supervise and provide coaching and support to the employer relations team including setting expectations and key strategic initiatives and performance measures.

  • Provide feedback, complete performance reviews, identify appropriate recognition and rewards, and perform corrective actions as needed.

  • Hire and train new staff.

  • Delegate and implement special projects and/or perform related duties as assigned.

5% - Identify and resolve problems and questions concerning employer-related issues, problems, and other concerns.

  • Answer all routine questions or correct routine problems directly.

  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Refer difficult issues and questions to Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in counseling, student personnel services, business administration, or related field, and ten years of post-master's career services, development, or business experience in a university or corporate setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years post-masters career services, development, or business experience in a university or organization.

  • Knowledge of highly selective college or university settings, and familiarity with operations of the world of work and university networks.

  • Experience in presenting in both in-person and online formats.

  • Experience creating content (video, digital, written) and utilizing social media for the purposes of engaging with employers, and influencing public opinion.

  • Proficient in relevant software, namely Handshake and UConnect.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
