Emory Healthcare/Emory University Director of Training- T32 Grant Support Portfolio in Atlanta, Georgia

Reporting to the Vice President of Research Administration, the Director of the T32 Support office is primarily responsible for building and implementing a strategic plan to grow Emory University's training grant portfolio. Primarily seeks out new training grants and connects faculty to the opportunities by providing a concierge's proposal support service to faculty.

  • Oversees the hiring, training and supervision of all team members, including the assignment of goals and tasks.

  • Initiates and oversees training grant renewals and development support for faculty new and renewal applications.

  • Works closely with Associate Deans of Research, faculty, and administration across schools/units to promote new interdisciplinary research training programs.

  • Serves as a key contributor for sustaining existing service structures and providing assistance during proposal cycles with a large number of grant applications.

  • Works actively to resolve conflicts between Principal Investigators (PIs) and team members promptly and satisfactorily.

  • Works closely with Emory University's Research Administrative Services (RAS) and Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to ensure that office standards promote compliance with regulatory requirements to which grants and contracts are subject and to confirm that all pre-award activities are handled accordingly.

  • Provides consistent and standardized reports to leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis and ad hoc reports, as needed.

  • Additional responsibilities include providing support to graduate programs and faculty in the preparation of training grants; initial focus of the office will be to provide adjunct support on NIH T32 training grants, but as the office grows in expertise and staff, other training grants to agencies such as NSF and other agencies may also grow.

  • Assists as well as oversees staff assistance of faculty in the preparation of training grant proposals and renewal applications.

  • Provides vigorous outreach to training grant program administrators, directors and other graduate faculty; ensures the accurate and timely collection and reporting of data for proposals and renewal applications.

  • Works with Information Technology staff to ensure functionality of systems and applications for data management and reporting.

  • Develops and oversees the annual budget.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD and five years of research administration or related experience, including supervisory and management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Preferred qualifications include NIH and other agency pre-award proposal submission and post-award management duties (particularly T32s).

  • Preference for experience at a large research institution where the volume and complexity of training grants proposal and award portfolio is similar or larger than Emory.

  • Project management experience and experience with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft and Cayuse desirable.

  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
