The Director of Programs & Events conceptualizes, plans, and coordinates major administrative activities within the Office of Faculty Affairs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages the strategic planning process for projects and oversees progress toward achieving goals.

  • Provides high-level management of the work of a cross-functional internal team to promote and support events, that may include staff writers, video production, etc.

  • Oversees processes involving event mailing lists, RSVPs, nametag production and related tasks for the event.

  • Manages the collection, assimilation and presentation of project data, including input from post-project debrief meetings with key event stakeholders; audience/participant surveys, budgets, and make recommendations for improvements based on the data.

  • Serves as primary coordinator of strategic initiatives for the Office of Faculty Affairs and, at times, the Office of the Provost.

  • Serves as primary coordinator for Faculty Affairs programming, such as the Academic Leadership Program, New Faculty Orientation, and associated events.

  • Leads and directs staff to achieve optimum results.

  • Manages project budgets, working with the Provost's finance team as needed.

  • Serves as a liaison between Faculty Affairs and internal/external constituents.

  • Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for the Department.

  • Provides technical support by evaluating established processes and projects to ensure efficacy in an ongoing practice of process improvement.

  • Conducts research, analyzes data and identifies and summarizes trends related to programs and projects.

  • As needed, provides additional review and support for faculty actions for the tenure and promotion process and the Board of Trustees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of higher education, events, project management or related experience.

  • Prior work experience with faculty affairs in a higher education environment preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
