The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research, solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We foster collaborative connections and value Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.We are currently seeking an Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations team partners with schools and units across Emory University and Emory Healthcare to provide corporate and foundation fundraising and engagement through the development of mutually beneficial relationships. By working with faculty and university leadership, they create awareness of Emory’s distinctive strengths with a range of philanthropic organizations. This position will report to the Vice President for Principal Gifts.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Plans and implements a coordinated program of fundraising activities for the management of relationships with local, national, and international corporate and foundation prospects.

  • Drives the creation and execution of an overall corporate engagement strategy for Emory University.

  • Partners with advancement officers, faculty, and Emory University and Emory Healthcare leadership to drive enterprise-wide efforts to increase philanthropic support from foundations and corporations, corporate executive and employee engagement, economic development and entrepreneurship, research collaborations, and corporate student engagement.

  • Works to expand the base of private philanthropic foundation prospects and donors on a regional and national level for priority efforts within specific academic and business units and university wide.

  • Develops, shapes, and negotiates institutional and/or programmatic project ideas for funding consideration with internal and external constituents.

  • Oversees full cycle of relationship building, cultivation, and solicitation of corporations and foundations in support of Emory.

  • Communicates and negotiates ideas in ways that are donor-centric, while also beneficial to Emory.

  • Oversees the creation of proposals, letters, briefings, and other fundraising materials.

  • Ensures adherence to complex application and/or solicitation requirements.

  • Maintains an active portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects with major gift potential.

  • Manages the operations of the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations including managing staff and budgeting.

  • Directs research on potential donors and hosts campus visits.

  • Travels to meet with donors as needed.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Executive Director may be required to:

  • Meet department metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and ten years of experience in fundraising or corporate and/or foundation setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will possess experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and effective presentation skills.

  • Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

  • Experience working in a comprehensive campaign setting, including a strong track record of raising annual and major gifts from corporations.

  • Prior experience in alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.

  • Master’s level degree.

  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Experience reading, analyzing, designing, and executing fundraising processes and procedures.

  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
