The Advancement and Alumni Engagement’s department of Technology and Intelligence support various operating systems and platforms to apply advanced business analysis concepts to resolve highly complex operational issues and meet the philanthropic objectives of Emory University. Teams in this area will deliver dashboards, add KPIs, provide analytics, data mining and data modeling to the advancement community and integrate new data sources. This position will report to the Senior Associate Vice President of Resource Advancement.
Develops and implements strategies for leveraging the constituent relationship management (CRM) system and tools to create analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) functionality.
Establishes and implements the strategic BI functions in Advancement and Alumni Engagement (AAE).
Leads, creates, and implements the design of informatics architecture, systems design, dashboards, analytics, data mining and modeling, leveraging data to drive donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Applies advanced business analysis concepts to resolve highly complex operational issues and meet the philanthropic objectives of Emory University.
Identifies information/reporting needs, opportunities to optimize reporting, new data sources and sets key performance indicators to measure success.
Serves as a technical expert, leading the assessment, implementation and maintenance of technology solutions including operating systems, platforms, and third party solutions.
Oversees division information technology, systems, and analytics functions.
Ensures compliance requirements are met for HIPAA, FERPA, and PCI.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Executive Director may be required to:
Manage outsourced resources and vendor relationships.
Create and enforce division standards relative to technology initiatives and projects.
Maintain knowledge/expertise of current software and hardware solutions, security requirements, maintenance, and administration including HIPAA and PCI.
Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.
Create reports with application/technical tools.
Work with end users on process improvements.
- A bachelor's degree and eight years of experience in information technology, systems support, or related field with a minimum of five years managing staff.
Master’s level degree.
Successful candidates have experienceleading multipleBusiness Intelligence project lifecycles, using industry best practices and patterns. Proven ability to create/implement robust BI tools that improved efficiency and effectiveness of the business unit.
Experience leading the development of data models using advanced level Microsoft SQL Server, PL-SQL, CRM systems, Tableau, Power BI, Domo,QlikView, Advizor and Einstein Analytics.
Strong understanding of database concepts and hands-on SQL programming. Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, data warehouse, ETL, relational databases, imaging, virtualization, data validation/automation, CRM systems.
An aptitude in mastering the implementation of new software, applications, and databases.
Ability to translate technology to business needs; ability to communicate complex technical information non-technical stakeholders; ability to create technical solutions that are easily adopted/accepted by end users.
Expertise in applying technology to business programs, in particular the ability to quantitatively describe problems and engineer solutions and to gain acceptance and integration into the culture of the organization.
Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Capacity to lead and develop a team’s skills through effective feedback and coaching, motivating and empowering colleagues while being institutionally minded, strategic, and impactful.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills, adept at problem-solving with attention to detail, and the ability to navigate a complex work environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and comfort working with ambiguity.
Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadline.
NOTE: The role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
