Emory University announces the upcoming vacancy for aFaculty Position – Infectious Diseases

Roles and Responsibilities of this position:

National Emerging Special Pathogen Training and Education Center (NETEC)

Serve as Principal Investigator for Emory NETEC contract and Emory is the prime awardee for NETEC

Liaison with HHS and ASPR—periodic calls to funders to discuss NETEC progress and goals

Liaison with CDC—periodic calls to colleagues to discuss joint efforts

Educate congressional representatives—work with Emory government affairs personnel to meet with congressional representatives to discuss value of preparedness and NETEC achievements

Set goals and priorities for NETEC in conjunction with PIs at Bellevue and Nebraska

Work with leadership teams to establish annual budget and write annual scope of work in collaboration with funders

Work with leadership team to review and analyze NETEC accomplishments on an annual basis and write annual report

Work with leadership team to negotiate contracts for NETEC: currently Salesforce IT and organizational consultation, evaluability review by Wandersman Group, national consulting group not yet named for establishment of Emerging Special Pathogens network

Work with leadership team to review all new hires for NETEC

Work with leadership team to review metrics developed by NETEC (healthcare facilities, Emergency Medical Services, long-term care, etc.)

Work with subgroup of NETEC to review site consultation reports- subgroup of all NETEC members determined for each report

Work with subgroup of NETEC to participate in site consultations- subgroup determined for each consult

Work with leadership team to review educational schedules and content

Work with leadership team to review special pathogens research network activities

HHS Region 4 Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center

Serve as Medical Director of Center

Liaison with HHS and ASPR—periodic calls to funders to discuss center progress and goals

Work with leadership group to set goals and priorities for center

Determine annual budget and scope of work together with Program director, Contract director, and key members

Medical Director for project ECHO educational initiative for HHS region 4- a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation to establish a small group clinical learning collaboration in the region

Working with training company at the Center of Domestic Preparedness, Anniston, AL to determine curriculum for bio preparedness courses

Serious Communicable Diseases Unit (SCDU) Program

Serve as Medical director for SCDU

Work with leadership team to negotiate scope of work and budget with CDC

Work with leadership team to establish goals and priorities for unit

Work with Unit Nursing Director and nursing lead to develop staffing model for the unit

Work with Unit Nursing Director and nursing lead to develop training schedule and curriculum for training sessions

Minimum requirements

Must have a MD or PhD.
