Description

The Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery is looking for a qualified Medical Doctor who is interested in Laparoscopic & Advanced GI Surgery training. Applicants of the 2024 Surgical Fellowship Match must submit job applications using the Emory Careers Website. The Emory University Fellowship programs were created to foster the development of high quality fellowships included but not limited to General/GI, Oncology, Transplant, Plastics, Trauma/Surgical Care, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. This is a Laparoscopic & Advanced GI Surgery Fellowship with an emphasis on laparoscopy and endoluminal therapies. There is ample bariatrics experience as well to meet credentialing requirements. Emory Bariatrics is also an American College of Surgeons Level 1 Center of Excellence for Bariatrics, where we offer gastric bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomies, band procedures, and revision surgeries. Cases performed by the fellows in a typical month are: Esophageal, Gastric, Bariatrics, Ventral Hernia, Inguinal Hernia, Colon/Small Bowel, Anorectal, Upper/Lower Endoscopy. Preference for this position will be given to those who have already had high quality academic output. The intent of the fellowship has always been to prepare future leaders in minimally invasive and GI surgery. All fellows participate in the esophageal function laboratory since foregut diseases have historically been prominent in the Unit. The case mix can be straight-forward to the most complex. There is opportunity for wet-bench translational research in Obesity and Metabolism in our NIH-funded.
