The Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is looking for a qualified Medical Doctor who is interested in Temporomandibular Joint training and research. The Emory University Fellowship programs were created to foster the development of high-quality fellowships included but not limited to General/GI, Oncology, Colorectal, Transplant, Plastics, Trauma/Surgical Care, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. This is a non-ACGME fellowship position overseen by Gary Bouloux, MD.

This one-year fellowship will focus on Temporomandibular Joint issues with a focus on minimally invasive surgery, including arthroscopy, arthroplasty, total joint replacement, and surgical outcomes. The curriculum will be split between clinical and scholarly activities. During the year, the fellow will be exposed to a broad range of TMJ practice and disease at different campuses across Emory Healthcare. The fellow will primarily rotate between Emory University Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Emory University Hospital Midtown. The fellow will learn to perform as both operating surgeon and teaching assistant. The fellow will be required to submit at least one manuscript for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Preference for this position will be given to those who have already had high quality academic output. The intent of the fellowship is to each competent general surgeons to become specialized in the diagnosis and management of diseases and disorders related to TMJ; teach minimally invasive surgical techniques; and teach the principles of surgical outcomes research.
