The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a general Clinical Pathologist with expertise in Hematopathology and interests in Transfusion Medicine and general Clinical Pathology for a Clinical Track academic position based at Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta.

Grady is a large public academic hospital which serves Atlanta and the surrounding community. It houses a nationally certified level one Major Trauma center, an American Burn Association verified Burn Center, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The hospital serves a large and diverse population including a sizeable sickle cell population, a large international population, and a significant HIV/AIDS population. It is the major training site for Emory School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine with numerous medical students, residents and fellows who rotate at Grady.

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with broad interest in Clinical Pathology with expertise in Hematopathology and Coagulation and an interest in Transfusion Medicine and Pathology Resident education. Successful applicants will be expected to have a record of academic productivity and to contribute to teaching at the professional and graduate levels. The candidate would join a collegial team of Pathologists and Laboratorians who oversee and are responsible for all Grady based Clinical and Anatomic Pathology services. Duties would include sharing in diagnostic sign out of Hematopathology testing (bone marrow aspirates and biopsy, flow cytometric immunophenotyping, lymph node biopsies, pathology samples, consultations), Hemoglobinopathy testing, Immunology testing (SPEP/UPEP/immunotyping) and Transfusion Medicine (antibody panels and transfusion reaction workup). Other duties would include Medical Directorship of the Coagulation laboratory, Assistant Medical Directorship of Transfusion Medicine, Assistant Medical Director of Hematology, and Directorship of one or two of the limited services laboratories at the Grady Neighborhood Health Centers.

Applicants must possess an earned M.D with board eligibility/certification in either Clinical Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology as well as board eligibility/certification in Hematopathology. Board eligibility/certification in Transfusion Medicine would be a plus. Faculty rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training.
