Description

  • Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of healthcare systems and processes within our organization.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Healthcare Systems Engineering, service line and operating unit leaders to identify and provide resources to support the organization's process improvement priorities.

  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, provide technical support in process optimization, waste reduction, enhancing patient outcomes, and ultimately contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services through application of Engineering practices.

  • Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for daily problem solving as well as leading lean events such as A3 Teams and Rapid Improvement events.

  • Utilize appropriate engineering approaches, including but not limited to the following in support of organizational improvements: Six Sigma and Advanced Statistical Methods (Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Hypothesis Testing, etc)

  • Work Design and Measurement Operations Research and Analysis including mathematical simulation, optimization, linear programming, queuing theory.

  • Engineering Economic Analysis.

  • Facilities DesigN.

  • Quality and Reliability Engineering including Reliability Analysis, Measurement Analysis, PDSA, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Lean Methodologies (Value Stream Mapping, Rapid Improvement Event/ Kaizen, 5S, Turnover Time Reduction, etc.)

  • Ergonomics, Safety, and Human Factors.

  • Supply Chain Management and Data Analytics (Predictive Modeling, Reporting, Dashboard creation)

  • Facilitates and guides redesign teams and process improvement teams instructing them on appropriate course of action for each project phase including implementation of recommended improvements through sustainment of project outcomes.

  • Responsible for complex project planning including the development of timeline, tasks, communication planning, and potential recommendations related to capital purchases.

  • May include responsibility for leading the lean transformation work at the facility.

  • Experience teaching large groups and dealing with difficult people.

  • Coach leadership/departments on adoption of continuous improvement tools such as A3, de-selection, and leader standard work.

  • Assists directors and leadership in identifying and analyzing operational and clinical problems using statistical tools including process control charts, regression analysis, linear programming, and forecasting.

  • Verifies, updates, and analyzes comparative databases containing operational and clinical benchmarking data to support hospital benchmarking efforts and to support planning and operational decisions.

  • Lead data conversations by proposing appropriate metrics for decision making and extract data from data repositories and create useful information for leadership decision making.

  • May supervise other department staff and manage employee performance through on-going performance feedback to increase competencies.

  • Provides orientation and training to new employees, verifies their competencies, and identifies approaches to developing skills.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related field (Masters Degree Preferred).

  • 8 - 12 Years of experience (Advanced degree may be substituted for some experience).

  • Six Sigma, Lean, or similar certification (Black Belt Preferred).

  • Familiarity with common SPC software (Minitab, SPSS, R, etc.) & Microsoft Office.

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare operations, regulations, and quality standard.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and inter-personal skills.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience with Simio or FlexSim preferred
