Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This classification is to be used in departments/schools at Emory University.

  • Administers Human Resources policies and procedures and related forms for a department or a division.

  • Coordinates compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

  • Completes required forms/documents, reviews for accuracy, and processes.

  • Advises or refers individuals to the appropriate staff for guidance on human resources issues.

  • Advises supervisors/managers and prepares required paperwork to process job reclassifications and to establish and post new positions.

  • Assists in creating/updating departmental position descriptions.

  • Processes required payroll paperwork.

  • May assist in preparing and monitoring departmental budgets.

  • May supervise support staff.

  • Assists in human resources related education/training efforts within the department.

  • Utilizes database management, word processing, spreadsheet and/or other computer applications.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Handles all human resources needs for assigned departments to include working with hiring officials to post, select and hire the best candidates for their open staff positions.

  • Advises hiring official on appropriate job classifications. Participates in interviewing, evaluating and determining best job candidates.

  • Assists in determining appropriate offers, advises hiring officials on how to address recruitment or hiring challenges, and onboards new hires.

  • Assists in determining appropriate job classifications and offers, drafts offer letters, and ensures selected candidates complete any required pre-employment processes.

  • Works closely with central HR, Payroll, and finance staff to ensure appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures are followed.

  • Identifies and assists in implementing improvements to HR processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy of services provided.

  • Runs HR reports and analyzes results to determine any actions that are needed.

  • Functions as a co-primary timekeeper for a large volume of bi-weekly paid staff and students. Works with supervisors and employees to resolve timekeeping issues, processes retro pay requests, and administers relevant pay policies.

  • Processes J1 and H1B visas; researches unusual situations and advises appropriately.

  • Participates in meetings with employees and supervisors to address and resolve concerns. May investigate issues and draft relevant communications.

  • Works with Employee Relations to ensure Emory policies are followed and they are informed of any developing situations or issues.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft highly desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and three years of experience in human resources administration or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice toemployee.
