JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to provide complete and timely repair, calibration and preventive maintenance of imaging equipment faster and more economically than any outside vendor. The IDT is an experienced level position. Examples of imaging systems are Ultrasound, Cath Lab, Special Procedure, Digital Rad, Digital Chest, CR Network, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, CT, MRI, PET, Nuclear, etc. The IDT may have former military training or a college degree related to biomedical or imaging equipment repair. The IDT may be responsible for installations, de-installations, approved modifications, repairs, preventive maintenance and quality assurance programs. Serves as an expert for nursing, technical, and physician staff. Responsible for maintaining optimum image quality and also utilize available resources for parts. Provide feedback relating to the imaging equipment selection process as requested. The IDT will be completely familiar with all imaging test equipment, which includes phantoms, dosimeter, MAS meters, KVP meters, densitometers, QA software, OEM diagnostic software, etc. The position will work on imaging equipment at least 90% of the time. May work on biomedical equipment as requested. The IDT will always maintain equipment to OEM specifications. Reports directly to the manager of the Medical Engineering Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree or diploma in Biomedical Engineering/Electrical engineering technology or related program or military equivalent. OEM/ISO imaging system imaging modality certification preferred. RIS or CRES certification preferred. Five years' experience in biomedical engineering, related field, or military equivalent preferred.Three years minimum imaging experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday(frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
