The mission of the Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) team is to be a good custodian of institutional data by integrating information from various stewards to develop comprehensive, valid reports and analyses to support enterprise decision making. The primary emphasis for this role focuses on building subject matter expertise pertaining to faculty data and enhancing institutional goals by providing detailed management and analysis of data. More specifically, this position will be heavily involved in capturing faculty data for annual reports including IPEDS, AAUP, COFHE, COACHE, and Academic Analytics.

Additional projects include tenure and promotion, retention, and other custom requests on behalf of senior leadership. This position will frequently interact with key data stakeholders across campus to support institutional and operational reporting requirements. Additionally, there are opportunities to engage in professional development, with national networks of peers, and for developing pathways for career trajectories.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Independently collects, prepares, and analyzes data to support institutional data needs.

  • Primary responsibilities include preparing accurate and timely data for external data submissions, collecting and managing data associated with partner consortia, designing summary reports, and producing data to support operational efficiencies in collaboration with other institutional departments.

  • Supports the assessment and reporting needs of the University and its departments to federal, state, and other accrediting agencies.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

Successful candidates will possess strong skills in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in institutional research and data reporting.

  • Interest in faculty data and definitions.

  • Technical aptitude in data management and statistics (ex. SPSS, STATA, R).

  • Proficiency in business intelligence development (ex. Tableau, PowerBI).

  • Support of data governance and documentation initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and two years of data collection and analysis experience.

  • Strong analytical and research skills as well as written and oral communication skills.

  • Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in fields related to decision science and analytics, with prior experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness, or with skills in data management and statistics (Excel PivotTables, STATA, SPSS, SAS, R, Tableau).

NOTE: Tasks related to this position can be performed remotely with only occasional supported visits to an Emory University location. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
