Description

Faculty are espected to fulfill the three missions of the School of Medicine and the Department of Human Genetics:

1) Perform cutting-edge discovery and knowledge generating research in the field of biomedical informatics; 2) Contribute in substantive ways to the training of the next generation of physicians and scientists through didactic lectures, skills training, and mentorship of students and fellows; and 3) Provide service to the Emory University community through participation in graduate programs and various committees necessary for state-of-the-art education and research performed at the university, as well as the national community of your discipline.

Candidates are expected to maintain 95% of their salary from an independent, extramurally supported research program.

The reporting line would be to the Chair of Human Genetics. Annual evaluations, discussions, and planning meetings with the Chair will provide direct feedback, mentorship, and help in planning future academic directions. As such, we would set forth the following expectations in areas of scholarship, teaching and service.

Scholarship:

  • Submit as lead PI/co-PI at least one NSF or R-level NIH proposal within the first two years of appointment

  • Collaborate as co-investigator on research proposals with internal and external researchers

  • Publish at least two manuscripts per year as first, second or last author in peer reviewed journals

  • Publish at least two manuscripts per year as middle contributing author

Teaching:

  • Supervise at least one student rotation project annually.

Service:

  • ˛ø◊«fl;">Participate in at least one departmental committee

  • Participate in at least one committee of regional and/or national importance.
