JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • In collaboration with customers and the Space and Campus Planners, the Interior Designer III will develop furniture, finish and space standard recommendations for campus buildings and spaces.

  • Provides in-house professional design services for interior spaces across diverse functions including office, residential, hospitality, laboratory and classroom spaces.

  • Develops technical solutions for larger project sizes including the interior design of new building construction.

  • Formulates preliminary design concepts that are appropriate, functional to the space and meet the customer program and needs.

  • Prepares construction drawings, architectural detailing, and specifications for interior construction. Serves as lead designer and directs work of vendors and contractors.

  • Manages the selection and specification of project design finishes, furniture systems, fixtures and equipment.

  • Prepares, administers and evaluates furniture bids.

  • Prepares required procurement documentation.

  • Develops comprehensive project budget and reviews Capital Project consultants¿ finish selections for appropriate budget ranges.

  • Develops and presents final design recommendations through utilizing appropriate and professional presentation media.

  • Prepares project reports, analysis and documents such as field reviews, client selection summaries and approvals.

  • Determines and manages client expectations and provides project updates.

  • Assembles programming information and provides basic test fits for various departments across campus.

  • Provides space planning concepts to assist customers in better space utilization and efficiency.

  • Attends required on-site meetings and field reviews; provides direction to outside contractors and vendors.

  • Oversees site deficiency/punch list as it relates to FFE.

  • Communicates and coordinates with project consultants, contractors, manufacturers and vendors.

  • Maintains product/design knowledge level by reviewing trade journals, attending conferences and vendor presentations.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture or a related field and five years of commercial interior design experience, including two years working on large scale commercial projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Knowledge of building codes, construction regulations and accessibility design.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification & a degree from a Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER) institution or equivalent credentials required.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly butmust be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule isbased on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
