Description

The Manager of Acute Care Transport Coordination is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the ambulance transport coordination team, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of patients.

This role involves managing a team of Coord, Acute Care Transport, optimizing transport processes, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery.

The Manager plays a crucial role in strategic planning, resource management, and performance improvement, ensuring that all transport activities adhere to regulatory standards and organizational goals.

1 . Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of Ambulance Transport Coordinators, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure high performance.

  • Oversee team scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency.

  • Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews, fostering a culture of excellence and an eye toward continuous improvement.

  • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and development of new team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the demands of their roles.

2. Operational Oversight:

  • Ensure that all transport requests are assessed, prioritized, and coordinated effectively to meet patient needs and service expectations.

  • Monitor the performance of transport operations, identifying and addressing any issues or delays promptly.

  • Develop and implement operational protocols and best practices to enhance the efficiency, safety, and quality of transport services.

3. Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between EMS teams, capacity command center teams, healthcare providers, patients, and their families to facilitate smooth transport operations.

  • Provide real-time updates to relevant stakeholders on the status of transport requests.

  • Coordinate with other Capacity Command Center staff to address any issues or delays in transport.

4. Resource Management:

  • Analyze data to optimize resource use and improve response times, reducing downtime and maximizing service capacity. - Monitor and manage the availability of ambulances, transport vehicles, and EMS personnel. - Optimize scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize response times.

5. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all transport operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and organizational protocols.

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and effectiveness of transport services.

6 . Collaboration:

  • Work closely with capacity command center staff, EMS personnel, hospital staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient transfers.

  • Collaborate with other departments, including logistics and administration, to support overall operational efficiency.

  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and emergency preparedness drills.

7 . Strategic Planning and Reporting:

  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts, identifying opportunities to enhance transport services, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on team performance, transport metrics, and operational challenges to senior management.

  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation discussions to ensure the transport team is adequately supported.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in emergency medical services (EMS), or a related field is required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • NREMT Emergency Medical Technician (EMT and/or Paramedic) certification preferred.

  • Georgia EMT license preferred but not required

  • Georgia paramedic license preferred but not required

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in EMS, patient transport, or healthcare coordination.

  • Previous experience coordinating interfacility ambulance transports

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

JUDGEMENT:

  • Staff member should understand operational and clinical complexities of ambulance (air and ground)

  • Staff member should be able to think critically and solve complex logistical challenges in a way that prioritizes patient safety.
