Description

The role of the medication assistance coordinator is primarily to screen, apply, and coordinate application of medication assistance opportunities for patients.

Shift Time: 7:30a-6p

  • This includes enrollment and coordination of necessary paperwork for manufacturer assistance programs, disease-based assistance programs, identifying co-pay assistance for underinsured patients, and use of charity care funds as appropriate.

  • Incumbent will coordinate documentation to promote continuity of treatments, improve access to needed medication, decrease financial harm, and serve as a resource for medication assistance-related questions.

  • Maintain centralized location of medication assistance resources, including but not limited to policies/procedures, dashboards, etc.

  • Effectively escalate medication assistance issues to Medication Assistance Operations meeting, analyze root causes to any issues, develop and present any solutions or decision points.

  • Develop monthly tracking mechanisms of medication assistance delivered (financial benefit, number of patients served).

  • Create travel justification for future Medication Assistance team development (e.g. conferences or site-visit).

  • Present orientation material and in-service on education to staff (pharmacy and non-pharmacy) on the Emory Medication Assistance Program, related processes, and contact points.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a field related to the program or 4 years of direct experience in specialty pharmacy, medication assistance, prior authorizations, pharmacy benefits investigation, managed care, or financial navigation.

  • Registration as a pharmacy technician is required.
