JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Neurodiagnostic Specialist II has been credentialed as R.EEG T./CNIM/CLTM by ABRET to perform Neurodiagnostic monitoring for ICM/IOM/EMU/ICU/sEEG, cortical mapping/routine EEG/ NCVs/Ambulatory/PET/Wada/Tilt table procedures according to facility/department policy and procedures.

  • Can perform test set up, collect patient history, acquire data, provide tech impression of recording, and maintain patient safety.

  • May be asked to help assign staff tasks and patient cases.

  • Performing inpatient/outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures per ACNS guidelines including ICM/IOM/EMU/ICU/sEEG, cortical mapping.

  • Proper technique and electrode placement, quality study and outcome, perform procedures per department guidelines, complete patient documentation.

  • Apply electrodes in ICU and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in preparation for extended long term monitoring EEG studies.

  • Must participate in on-call rotation at designated locations. Archive EEG studies, work with Natus database, and create montages as needed, technical reports, create maps and trajectories for OR, quantitative EEG. Using ACNS accepted terminology, annotate ICM/IOM/EMU/ICU/EEG/Ambulatory recordings.

  • Review and interpret Quantitative EEG and post processing of EEG.

  • Responsible for 10 continuing education credits per year, to be achieved through society membership materials, meetings, department lectures, fellows lecture series, etc.

  • Present case studies and materials for department meetings.

  • Review continuous/prolonged EEGs for appropriate start and stop times in the Natus Database and in Powerchart.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; entry level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge; graduate of a (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostics Program or an Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired.

  • R. EEG T., plus CLTM or CNIM with 4 years experience working in Neurodiagnostics. BLS certification required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
