JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides neurophysiology care to patients in acute, chronic, and emergency situations within established organizational guidelines. Oversees the staff's daily assignments and workflow. With direction of Supervisor, coordinates and directs quality assurance activities for patient and staff as needed. Performs other related duties as required. Assists staff when not on assignment.

Selects, assembles, and checks neurophysiology equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness; troubleshoots problems with equipment and is able to perform adjustments or corrective actions. Ability to instruct staff how to do so as well. Coordinates the use of specialized equipment to ensure its proper placement and availability. Evaluates equipment and makes purchasing recommendations with Neurophysiology Supervisor.

Under the direction of the Neurophysiology Supervisor the Lead Technologist administers and communicates information on Policies and Procedures, regulatory requirements, Federal, State and Organizational guidelines. Monitors daily staff activities, workflow and performance. Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to advance skills. In the absence of the Supervisor develops staff work schedules to ensure adequate coverage; maintains records pertaining to approved leave requests for accurate coordination. Completes annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Under the guidance of the Supervisor takes corrective or disciplinary action as needed and resolves personnel issues, referring unusual or recurrent problems directly to the Supervisor.

Works with Supervisor to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Serves as staff resource: May conduct in-service educational programs relating to neurophysiology issues and provide staff members with training and continuing education on an on-going basis.

Accurately and completely documents neurophysiology services by following the established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any changes in the patient's condition.

Practices universal and/or specialized precautions in the daily cleaning and sterilization of work surfaces, equipment, and instruments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registered as an EEG Technologist by the National Board for Neurophysiology. Two years experience in Neurophysiology. Must be BLS certified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work(computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
